How audiobook pricing is estimated
Audiobook production pricing depends on the length of the book, narration style, production complexity and the level of publishing or launch support required.
Most audiobook projects are estimated using a combination of word count, finished audio length and production time. As a rough guide, one finished hour of audio may represent around 9,000 to 9,500 words, depending on reading pace and content type.
Author-read projects can vary because recording time depends on confidence, pace, retakes and how much direction or editing is required.
Longer books require more recording, editing and mastering time.
Author-read, professional narrator and hybrid approaches are scoped differently.
Fiction, children's books, multiple voices or complex content may require additional production attention.
